20 HOUR SAFE COMPREHENSIVE MORTGAGE LOAN ORIGINATOR COURSE - #1451
Course Description
This course introduces the learner to the fundamental concepts of the residential lending process. It includes the topics required by the SAFE Act: Federal mortgage-related laws, Ethics, Fair Lending and non-traditional loan products. Additional topics include primary and secondary markets, underwriting guidelines, Government sponsored loan programs, valuing real estate and understanding the appraisal and legal concepts.
Course Objectives, Goals and Purpose:
Individuals applying for licensure through the Nationwide Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) must take 20 hours of pre licensing education (unless qualifying for certification). This course meets that pre licensing requirement.
The purpose of the course is to prepare an individual to enter the industry and to work as a mortgage loan originator, mortgage broker or mortgage loan processor. The course may also be one of many beneficial resources for those individuals preparing to take the required national test component. Students should be aware that spending time in a pre-licensure education course may not be adequate test preparation. Applicants for licensure, particularly those new to the industry, may need to spend additional time studying for the test.
Additional test resources can be found on the NMLS website. The content outlines for both the national test component and the state test component are posted online. These content outlines can be used as a tool to help candidates prepare for the test. They detail the topic areas that are considered to be important and include a resource reference list. You can review the content outline for the national test by visiting: http://mortgage.nationwidelicensingsystem.org
Course Materials:
All course materials will be provided the first day of class. Each student must be provided with a new textbook. Additional resource materials and highlighters will be distributed to students.
Students should bring a non-programmable calculator to the course.
